“Life is always happening for us, not to us.” – Tony Robbins
I read this quote of Tony Robbins in Tim Ferriss’s book Tools of Titans, where he has compiled many of the most meaningful content from his most impactful interview and podcast guests.
This quote by Tony Robbins is all about perspective It recalls to mind the famous stoic metaphor of the dog being dragged by the wagon. It can either run along and enjoy the journey wherever the wagon happens to go, or it can resist and be dragged along the same route all the same.
Life is going to happen and 99.9% of it will always be out of our control. We might as well enjoy what is going to happen and try to make as much good out of the journey as possible. Think of everything that happens as something that happens for you not to you. Think of what comes to pass as the opportunity for learning and growth rather than as obstacles and issues.
